PB Plastics Consultancy Ltd was formed in April 2006 as a technically-based consultancy to serve the industries that produce or use Thermoplastic sheet.

It can provide expert technical assistance in the selection and use of thermoplastics and additives for extrusion. Also work has been carried out extruding various types of Biodegradable polymers into sheet.

Assistance can also be given in the areas of thermoforming difficult polymers such as PP, HDPE and PET, recycling, waste management, testing and Quality Assurance.

Past projects have resulted in cost savings in excess of £50k per annum over a product range and a raw material cost saving of over £300/tonne.

Personal Profile

Peter Buckell is qualified to AMIMMM level specialising in extrusion and compounding. He has over 35 years technical experience in the Plastics and related industries with 22 being involved in the extrusion of Thermoplastics into sheet, profile and pipe (including 4 years in Technical Services at ICI Plastics).

He has extensive knowledge of HIPS, PET, PBT, PP, HDPE and PVC and has been involved with processing ASA, Surlyn, CoC, VLDPE and Biodegradable materials based on both PLA and starch. Other areas of expertise include thermoforming, in particular HIPS, PP, HDPE and PET, recycling PET, physical and mechanical testing, effective use of performance additives and polymer modification.

He is also a MIQA, having designed Quality systems and carried out Quality audits. He been involved in Environmental management systems, being a key member of a team involved in gaining accreditation to ISO 14001, with particular experience in waste management and preparation of data for Packaging Regulation obligations.
